FAQs

Why should we buy from you? Peace of Mind

There are two things that will shape who your puppy is before you get them:

1. The Quality of the Dogs We have great blood lines, and breed to terrific studs. All of our parent dogs have been health screened.

2. The Quality of the Breeders This one is harder to discern. We are honest about our dogs, their puppies, and in our human interactions. We don't cut corners. We do our absolute best to provide you with a great puppy. Our dogs live in our home. Our puppies are born and raised in our living room. They are handled regularly and are socialized with people of all different ages.

Additional Peace of Mind:

Just like people want to buy from a reputable jeweler so they don't buy a "Blood Diamond" -- you want to know that your didn't buy a puppy from a puppy mill or from someone who will lie to you about what you are getting, how their dogs live or how their puppies are raised. When you buy from us, you are welcomed into our home and can plainly see the quality of our dogs and the care they receive.

How does the deposit work?

If the puppy is too young to go home, you will put a $400 deposit down to reserve the puppy until it is ready. (Scroll down to read the question about what forms of payment we accept.)

Scenario 1: If the puppy is not yet born,, or puppy selection hasn't occurred yet, you can contact us and place a deposit to hold your place in line until puppy selection which will occur around 6 weeks old.

Scenario 2: If the puppy has been born and puppy selection has been completed and the puppy you want is marked "still available", you can contact us to make sure puppy you want is indeed still available. If it is, you can place a deposit to reserve that particular puppy.

DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. HOWEVER, YOU MAY MOVE YOUR DEPOSIT TO A DIFFERENT LITTER FROM US.

How much does it cost to have our puppy driven to us?

We are willing to drive the puppy to you -- depending on if it works with our schedule and provided it isn't too far away. Generally, the furthest we are willing to drive a puppy is 400 miles. That would include cities like Chicago, IL, Des Moines, IA, Sioux Falls, SD, Duluth MN, and most anything closer. If you are outside of that range we would ask that you meet us within that 400 mile range or have your puppy flown to you. See our next Q. for information on having your puppy flown to you.

The cost is $0.50 per mile (round trip). This covers gas, mileage and my time. Example: From our place to Wisconsin Dells is 176 miles. 176 x 2 = 352 miles. 352 miles x $0.50 = $176.. Also, if we are delivering two or more puppies to different buyers at the same location we are willing to split the cost of delivery. Example: Two different people buy puppies and want them delivered to Wisconsin Dells on the same day. Cost of delivery: $176/2 = $88 each for delivery.

How does it work to have our puppy flown to us?

We are able to fly our pups from Minneapolis/St Paul airport to most major airports in the US as a part of airlines "Pet Safe" programs. You provide us with the date, time, and airport you would like you puppy flown to and we do the rest. According to federal guidelines, the puppy most be 8 weeks old or older in order to ride on a plane. Including the flight, approved travel crate and veterinarian health certificate it will cost $600-$700, depending on the age, size, and weight of your puppy. The puppy travels in a temperature controlled section of the aircraft. Don't worry about the puppy -- they'll probably sleep most of their flight and be excited to see you when they land.

Another popular option for those that live too far away to drive is to have you fly in and meet at us at the airport. If you aren't available, you may ask a family member or friend to fly out to us instead. The puppy then travels with them, as their carry on in a soft sided carrier under the seat in front of them. Most airlines allow this, but usually charge a fee of about $125 for the pup to join you on your return flight. Check your airline for details before booking.

Alternatively, you can hire one of our friends to be a flight nanny for you. They will fly out to you and meet you at the airport. Cost will vary based on airfare, but our flight nanny typically charges about $250 for their services, in addition to their airfare.

What forms of payment to you accept?

Our preferred method is Venmo. It is fast and has no fees. We also accept Paypal. If you choose to use Paypal you can avoid fees paying using the "Friends and Family" option which drafts from your checking account, otherwise we ask you to pay the additional 3% fee that Paypal charges..

Can we meet the parent's of our puppy?

Madison and Bailey all live in our home and would be glad to make new friends when you come to pick up your puppy. But as far as the stud goes, he lives at another breeder's home and is not available. Information on the stud is available on the "Our Dogs" page.

Why don't you dock your puppy's tails?

Our puppies are bred as pets and tail-docking a pet's tail serves no purpose other than cosmetic. Seeing as though it is a cosmetic surgery and causes the puppy a good deal of pain, we elect to leave our puppies as God created them -- happy and with their tails wagging!

What do you feed your puppies?

We feed our puppies Diamond Pet Foods, Large Breed Puppy Food. Their pet foods are high quality, a great value, made with natural ingredients and with no meat byproducts, and they don't use "fillers" like corn, wheat and soy. Other companies use these ingredients because they are cheap. A puppy or dog's stomach can't properly process these ingredients. They don't end up staying full as long so they eat more, you buy more, and all that puppy food has to go somewhere, so you end up cleaning up more!! We feed Diamond Naturals Small Breed Puppy Food to our Mini and F1B Petite Labradoodles. It comes in small kernels which are easier for the puppies to handle when they are first learning how to eat puppy food. We feed Diamond Naturals Large Breed Puppy Food to our Irish Doodles. All of our puppies come with a small bag of their puppy food. If you want to switch puppy food brands, you can use this bag to help them transition from their current brand of food to their new brand. We get our puppy food from our local pet store. Like many stores, they carry the Diamond Brand, but not the 40 pound bag of Small Breed Puppy Food. All we have to do is call them up and ask them to order a bag. We pay about $55 per 40 lb bag, so about $1.35 per pound. We usually order our dog and puppy food through Amazon or Chewy.com

Where did you come up with the "Queen of the Hill Puppies" name?

There were two aspects that went into the name. First, when we got started in dog breeding, we owned a Victorian home located on top of a hill, and second, our dogs enjoy the life of doggy royalty. They eat great food, get plenty of toys and play time, and most importantly, they live in our home, as our pets first foremost. We have since moved to the country, but kept the name and our dogs continue to live the life of queens, now, with more room than ever to run and play. We have a large fenced in yard, and a big field that is also fenced in for them to run in and enjoy being a dog.

What is "Hybrid Vigor"?

Hybrid Vigor is the term used to describe the result of breeding two separate breeds with the resulting offspring receiving the best of both breeds while reducing or eliminating the genetic health problems of one or both breeds. For example: By breeding a Lab, whose breed is known for hip dysplasia, with a Poodle, whose breed is not known for any hip issues, the puppies are a lot less likely to have any issues with their hips. This can also be true for allergies, eye issues, heart defects, etc.
